I HAVE A BIRD THAT NEEDS A HOME:
Click on the "Foster-homes" link to the right to find a foster home near you. If you are unsure as to the exact species, just contact one of the closest species you find in the category. Rescuers will take your particular sub-species of bird and care for it, find it a new home, add it to there own flock, or if wild - release it after it fully recovers. It is your responsibility to inspect each foster home for signs of neglect or animal hoarding prior to leaving your pet. We do not visit nor do we inspect our foster homes. Feel free to leave comments (good or bad) regarding any of our nationwide foster homes to birdmedic@gmail.com
I WANT TO ADOPT A PET BIRD:
Click on the "Foster-homes" link to the right to find a foster home near you. Rescuers will collect your information to find out what bird best fits your needs. Your name will be placed on a waiting list to adopt a bird, or the rescuer may have birds available. Adoption fees cover the costs of medical care, food and other expenses (if any) that the particular bird incurred during its stay in the foster home.
I WANT TO BECOME A FOSTER HOME:
Please e-mail birdmedic@gmail.com your name, address, phone number, e-mail address, a list of subspecies you would like to foster (five sub-species maximum per home) and the state / city in which you wish to accept birds. We like our foster homes to have an expertise in the few birds they accept. You may adopt the birds out to new homes and charge a fee for the care and maintenance of a bird. You may NOT sell the birds that you foster for profit. Keeping the birds you rescue is also an acceptable option. People interested in adopting birds will either contact you directly via phone or e-mail. It will be your responsibility to screen and educate prospective homes to assure that the bird goes to a safe loving environment. I highly recommend that each foster home reads the book "A Bird's Eye View!" available at http://www.birdplanettv.com/InsideTheBook.html or as an e-book at http://www.bookiejar.com/Home/Book/396?cat=35389440 as well as becoming an certified avian specialist.
I WANT TO BE LISTED AS A WILD BIRD REHABILITATOR
Please e-mail birdmedic@gmail.com your name, address, phone number, e-mail address and a copy of your rehab license issued by the Fish & Game Dept. of your state and/or the US Fish & Wildlife Service.
